Sunday 16 August - The Greyhound - 20:00

plays classic jazz music from the 30s to the 60s
Jazzmatazz

There was a sell-out jazz evening at the Greyhound on Sunday 16 August, as part of the Wadhurst Summer Music festival – indeed some latecomers had to be turned away.  ‘Jazzmatazz’ performed a wide range of classic jazz pieces from the 30s to the 60s and a couple of new songs,  by members of the band.  Ansy Boothroyd sang in her usual impeccable style; Michael Fields [guitars], Brian Hopper [sax – including a striking baritone version], Guy Faulkner [bass] and Vince [the only teetotal vegetarian drummer in the business] completed the line up.

Popular numbers were peformed throughout the evening such as GIRL FROM IPANEMA.,MISTY, DANCING CHEEK TO CHEEK, STORMY WEATHER AND SLOW BOAT TO CHINA.    The audience were very appreciative of the of the solo instrumental items.  The musicians were obviously enjoying themselves immensly and conveyed this to the audience.   A great evening was had by all.  I feel sure we all went home on a high and still humming some of the tunes to ourselves.  DS et al
